Phares à Taïwan

Lighthouses in Taiwan

Merci beaucoup Cheng :-)
Since 1989 (second print in 1991) and the issue of a nice definitive series, the Chunghwa Post had not issued any stamps devoted to the lighthouses of the island.
A new set of four stamps has been issued on July 28, 2010 concerning this same topic with an offset printing process and a transparent spot vanish applied on parts of the stamps.
Two of these four stamps are included on the cover below with a special postmark (different from the FDC cancellation) of the day of issue.
Thank you very much Cheng :-)

The Chilung Tao Lighthouse is featured both on the NT $ 5.00 stamp and the postmark. This lighthouse is located off the port of Keelung in northern Taiwan. Built in 1980, this octagon-shaped concrete lighthouse is green because it is powered from solar energy since 1998 with wind power as a secondary power source since 2006 !
The Paisha Chia Lighthouse (NT $ 10.00 stamp), built in brick in 1901, is located in Guanyin (Taoyuan County) in north-western country. Since 1956, this round lighthouse is producing a flash every 20 seconds, alternating between red and white lights. The government of Taoyuan has classified it as a County monument in 2002.
