Noël et Nouvel An en Croatie

Christmas and New Year in Croatia

Merci beaucoup Dragan :-)
As usual, the Croatian Post has issued at the end of this year two different stamps to celebrate both Christmas and the New Year to come.
More precisely, three stamps have been issued, including two on November 25, 2010 devoted to Christmas ("Božić"in Croatian), both in gummed (sheet of 20 stamps) version and in self-adhesive version (booklet of 10 stamps).
These two stamps appear at the top on the nice cover below mailed from Opatija on December 14, 2010. Thank you very much Dragan :-)

These two Christmas stamps reproduce a contemporary work by Croatian painter Josip Biffel (b. 1933) entitled "Adoration of the Shepherds". This painting is part of the collections of the "Šimun" gallery of the Franciscan Monastery of St. Anthony located in the village of Dubrave, northern Bosnia-Herzegovina, on the Croatian border.
The third stamp above (1.60 kn), devoted to the New Year, is logically the last stamp issued in 2010 (on December 6) by the Croatian Post.
I really like this stamp reproducing a drawing of the young Marta Bilandžija, an elementary school pupil from the town of Slavonski Brod (northern Croatia).
With this symbolic depiction of a green tree in the snow, Marta Bilandžija has won the contest of children's drawings organized this year by the Croatian Post, whose theme was "The Magic Tree".
