Lac Malawi et radio au Brésil

Lake Malawi and radio in Brazil

Merci beaucoup Marcelo :-)
I am happy to share with you the fifth and last part of the series "Diplomatic Relations" issued in 2010 by the Brazilian Post.
After Italy, Zambia, Egypt and Syria, Malawi is in the spotlight with a beautiful souvenir sheet, issued on July 6, 2010, consisting of three stamps devoted to Lake Malawi.
This sheet appears on the FDC below (with postmarks from Brasilia), mailed on April 27, 2011 from São Paulo. Thank you very much Marcelo :-)

A satellite view of Lake Malawi (560 km long and 75 km wide), shared by Malawi, Tanzania and Mozambique, is featured on the margins of this sheet with also the flag of Malawi in the top right.
The southern part of the lake is part of the Lake Malawi National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1984.
This lake, one of the deepest in the world, is indeed an outstanding example of biological evolution with in particular more than 350 species of cichlid fish, most of them being endemic, presenting a scientific interest comparable to the famous Galapagos finches studied by Charles Darwin !
Three species of colorful cichlid fish are depicted on the stamps of this souvenir sheet.

Marcelo has also sent me the other FDC above concerning the stamp, issued on January 21, 2011, devoted to the 150th anniversary of the birth of telecommunications pioneer, Father Roberto Landell de Moura (1861-1928), considered as "the father of broadcasting in Brazil".
A portrait of this amateur scientist is reproduced on this stamp, speaking into the microphone of a "wave transmitter" that he invented. The background of the stamp features patent of this radio system that he registered in the United States in 1904.
A radio wave with amplitude modulation is finally shown at the lower left part, allowing the wireless transmission of the human voice over long distances...
