100 ans de timbres au Liechtenstein - Bloc spécial

100 Years of Liechtenstein stamps - Special m/s

Merci beaucoup Olivier :-)
In a recent post on this blog, I've already mentioned this Philatelic Exhibition "LIBA2012" held in Schaan from 16 to 19 August 2012. This Expo's theme was the 100th anniversary of the first stamp issued by the Principality of Liechtenstein.
The post of Liechtenstein had already issued earlier this year (February 1) a set of four stamps devoted to this anniversary. These stamps, designed by H.P. Gassner, have been each issued in sheet of 8 stamps as well as in a souvenir sheet.
It is this souvenir sheet that appears on the beautiful cover below sent from LIBA2012, with some postmarks including the logo of this exhibition.
Thank you very much Olivier :-)

To note that this souvenir sheet includes unperforated stamps ! I don't know if a more classical perforated version has also been issued ?
The four Princes who reigned in Liechtenstein since 1912 are featured in this series : Johann II (reigned 1858-1929), Franz I (reigned 1929-1938), Franz Josef II (reigned 1938-1989) and Hans-Adam II (reigned from 1989).
To note that each of these stamps includes the years from 1912 to 2012 in Roman numerals.
The first series of stamps has indeed been issued in Liechtenstein on February 1, 1912. These three stamps (5, 10 and 25 Heller) then depicted a profile portrait of Prince Johann II and the words "K.K. Österreichische Post im Fürstentum Liechtenstein" reminding that the Post of the Principality was under Austrian administration following an agreement signed in 1911 between the two countries.
As it was the case before 1912, Austrian stamps were able to be still used in Liechtenstein. A new postal union with Switzerland in 1921 put an end to this double stamp's use...

Olivier also sent me the card above announcing this philatelic exhibition LIBA2012. This pretty young lady with her "stamped" bird is probably there to make us appreciate Liechtenstein stamps and philately in general !
