100th anniversary of the Zoological Survey of India

Coordinated today by the division "Conservation and Survey" of the Indian Ministry of Environment, Forests and climate change, this organization was founded 100 years ago by the museum of the Asiatic Society of Bengal and the zoological department of the Indian Museum in Calcutta.
India Post has a bit anticipated the commemorations of this 100th anniversary of the creation of the Zoological Survey of India by issuing, on December 3, 2015, a nice set of two stamps.

These two stamps, designed by Suresh Kumar, were printed in 500,000 (5 Rp) and 250,000 (25 Rp) copies respectively.
A souvenir sheet (print run : 100,000), bringing together the two stamps, were also issued in this series.
These two stamps as well as the souvenir sheet were used to frank this nice letter sent on March 26, 2016 from the city of Kolkata (with rather unreadable cancellations but it's worth noting the old name of the city "Calcutta"...). Thank you very much Alka !
Different animal species are featured on these two stamps including some iconic (and threatened) species of India such as the Asian elephant, the Asian lion, the Bengal tiger.
A gazelle, a peacock, an Indian leopard, various species of birds are also included as well as a gaur (the largest wild ox), represented on the logo of the Zoological Survey of India, to the right on the 5 Rp stamp.
